January 2021 Expenses | 2021

February 06, 2021 by Jacinle in Monthly Recap

Mighty Wallet Review AFTER 6 YEARS

February 03, 2021 by Jacinle in Shopping

After using my Mighty Wallet* on a daily basis for at least 6 years, I think it deserves a thorough review for the internet. My partner gifted me my first Mighty Wallet back in 2014. It is such a great conversation starter and receives compliments all the time. After my first mighty wallet worn down, I purchased my second Mighty Wallet (Picture Day)* in 2015.

Mighty Wallets are folded entirely out of a single sheet of Tyvek, which is more commonly known as the materials for USPS express mail envelopes. Since I’m writing this review during the pandemic, it is worth noting that Tyvek was also used to manufacture PPE against COVID-19.

I enjoyed using this wallet for the following reasons.

  1. Super Light. With all my essential IDs and credit cards (6 cards in total), it weighs only 45 grams / 1.58 oz. It is also extremely slim and fits in my jeans pocket nicely;

  2. Durable. The wallet has held up impressively well after 6 years. There are no tears or rips. I have dropped it on rainy days several times and it dried nicely. The print did fade quite a bit. This is the only reason I decided to buy a replacement;

  3. Spacious. I tend to collect all my receipts for personal bookkeeping. And it holds a lot of receipts;

  4. The design! There are so many cool and fun designs available. Mine is “Picture Day“, which features a cute ferret senior picture inside!

  5. For the tree huggers out there, Tyvek is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and is recyclable;

  6. The eye-catcher receives compliments all the time. People are always curious about this “paper“ wallet;

  7. Reasonable price. Considering it lasted 6 years, the annual cost is only $3.

I would definitely recommend Mighty Wallet to anyone who finds traditional wallets too corporate, too old-fashioned, or too heavy. If none of the existing designs speaks to you, you can opt for designing your own Mighty Wallet. I customized a Mighty Wallet with pictures of our lovely ferrets for my partner in 2020. The customized wallet takes longer to print and ship, but it certainly is worth the wait. The image printed terrifically well. But make sure you use high resolutions pictures.

Along with the customized Mighty Wallet, I also purchased a Mighty Wristlet. As an avid popcorn enthusiast, the wristlet sparks joy every time I use it. It holds all my essentials when running errands or grocery shopping. The wristlet itself, like the Mighty Wallet, is also extremely lightweight, weighing only 25 gram / 0.88 oz.

The only disappointment is when the stitches on the bottom of the pouch fell apart. I had to sew it by hand but haven’t had any issues since then.

The ease of sanitation is also why I have been using it exclusively since the pandemic started. I normally give it a good spray with 70% rubbing alcohol then wipe it down.
